CHILDHOOD CANCER
The family is a nucleus around which most communities are built. The next generation's
ability to
thrive is closely bed supports to the local community. Lions and Leos have seen and
felt
the
effects of
cancer on children and their families, and continue to bring hope through tangible
service
and support
DIABETES
Between now and 2045, diabetes is expected to impact more than 600 million adults. Since
diabetes
impacts quality of life and can lead to blindness, Lions are committed to working hard
to
do
something
about diabetes in our communities. We do this in various ways including funding eye
research,
educational put reach, and diabetes screenings. We raise funds for diabetes awareness
through walks and
other activities
VISION
At the Lions Clubs International Convention in 1825, Helen Keller inspired Lions to
become
her "Knights
of the Blind in the fight against darkness. Since that time, our long-standing mission
to
eradicating
and preventing avoidable blindness continues. In addition to this mission, we also
assist
those with
visual impairments live an improved life by providing assistance when and where needed.
HUNGER
More than 10 percent of the U.S. population is food insecure. In Massachusetts, it is
estimated that
one in ten people, and one in nine children are impacted by food insecurity. We strive
to
make this
number lower by making regular donations of food and funds to the Holliston Pantry
Shelf,
providing
meals to senior citizens either at Mansion Springs or at the Holliston Senior Centre
ENVIRONMENT
Environmental issues are a grave concern to the health and well-being of our
communities.
Annually, the
Holliston Lions Club participates in highway cleanups, donates cans and o the local Boy
Scouts and
assists with events such as bottles to Holliston in Bloom and other environmental
activities. Going
forward we hope to participate in more projects which help protect our environment
including
clothing
drives
DISASTER AID

Lions
Club donates
annually to those in need Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) to support
efforts
worldwide. LCIF
works in conjunction with Special Olympics International and the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation among
others to help provide services to those who need it the most on a global scale
HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS
Where there's a need, there's a Lion. The Holliston Lions Club donates annually to Lions
Clubs
International Foundation (LCIF) to support disaster recovery efforts. Any area that is
impacted by a
natural disaster is immediately eligible for $10,000 emergency grants. Our aid does not
stop
when the
disaster passes, instead you will find Lions working side by side helping rebuild
communities and lives.
YOUTH
We believe in being involved with the young people in our community. In Holliston, we do
this
in
various ways including providing a framework for high school students to volunteer
through
the LEOs
program, and providing scholarships to graduating seniors. We also sponsor students
annually
for events
like the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Speech Contest, and Lions All State Band.
MENTAL HEALTH
Lions Clubs International has identified mental health and well-being as a global cause,
actively raising awareness, providing support, and advocating for positive change in
communities worldwide. Lions and Leos are promoting the importance of mental health and
well-being, and providing opportunities to get involved in serving this initiative.
